What is Daisy Launch?
Daisy Launch supports girls who will be going into kindergarten this fall. Daisy Launch events give girls the opportunity to learn
about all the fun opportunities in Girl Scouts. At the event, she will complete four fun activities while learning about helping
others and sharing, as well as being kind and honest. And, she’ll earn her first patch!
What age does my girl have to be to participate?
Daisy Launch Patch

Only available upon request.
Daisy Launch events are for girls, who as of this coming fall, will be entering kindergarten or first grade. The events are set up to
give girls the opportunity to learn about all the fun things she’ll get to do when she becomes a Daisy Girl Scout!
At Girl Scouts, we know this is an exciting time as your girl approaches another big milestone in her life.
With the start of kindergarten comes the opportunity to be a Girl Scout Daisy. The possibilities are truly
endless when she becomes a Girl Scout, and the benefits go far beyond fun. At every age, Girl Scouts
are more likely than other girls to develop a strong sense of self, display positive values, seek challenges,
form healthy relationships, and be community problem-solvers.
Daisy Launch events are designed for a girl getting ready to enter kindergarten or first grade this coming
fall. She’ll participate in activities through the summer and experience the adventure that awaits her as
a Girl Scout Daisy. Discover all your girl can be and everything she can accomplish when she has the
right tools and a safe space to shine.
Joining Girl Scouts launches your girl into a lifetime of leadership, success,
and adventure! Join today at gswpa.org/join or call 800-248-3355.

Can she become a member, or does she have to wait to get registered in the fall?
An extended-year membership is available from April 1-June 30, 2019 for adults and girls, including girls entering kindergarten
this fall. This membership begins immediately to include the remainder of the 2019 membership year and the full 2020
membership year (Oct. 1, 2019-Sept. 30, 2020), which means girls will be able to attend Girl Scout events all summer long
instead of waiting until the fall! The sooner girls get registered, the earlier they can start to take part in the fun activities Girl
Scouts has to offer! The extended-year membership is available for purchase at $35. (That’s a $15 savings!)
When and where do Daisy Launch events take place?
Daisy Launch events will take place from April to June, depending on location. Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania staff, service
units, or troops can host Daisy Launch events anywhere where they want to get the word out about the opportunities Girl Scouts
has to offer.
What does the registration process for the pre-kindergarten girls look like?
Parents can register their pre-kindergarten girls online from April 1-June 30.
1. Go to gswpa.org, and click the “Join Now” button.
2. Click “Find a troop.”
3. On the information form, select “Pre-K” as current grade.
4. Search for troops by zip code.
5. Finding a troop:
a. If you do not have an existing troop for her to join, each service unit will have a Daisy Launch troop available for the girls
to join listed as “Daisy Launch Troop – SU#”. After selecting this troop, parents will be able to complete the registration
process like normal. In the fall, these girls will be placed into newly forming Daisy troops in their area for the 2019-2020
Girl Scout year.
b. If there is an existing troop she would like to join, search by the troop number. If the troop is not displayed, please select
“unsure,” but enter the troop number in the pop up box that appears.
What if parents don’t want to register their girl yet and prefer to be kept on
a “waiting list” to register closer to the 2020 Girl Scout year.
Collect information for any girls and adults not quite ready to register, and email it to your recruiter. Staff will keep track of these
names and reach out during the summer months—especially closer to the beginning of the Girl Scout year. Request sign-up
sheets from your local staff if you’re planning to host an event or if you’d like to have a sign-up sheet available at tabling events
through the summer. Following the event, send the filled-out sheet back to staff, and they’ll follow up from there.
