Section Two : Griffin Student Leadership Institute
The Gwynedd Mercy University Griffin Student Leadership Institute ( GSLI ) is committed to the development of graduates who will be effective leaders , using their compassion and competence to respond in practical ways to the needs of the world . The Institute is celebrating its ninth year of successful leadership education and training , with more than 203 students completing one or more tiers of the program . GSLI offers three levels of leadership certification : Emerging Leaders , Evolving Leaders , and Exceptional Leaders – each with different levels of development for students .
Emerging Leaders Presentations
Directed to both current and incoming students , the Emerging Leaders Certification provides a foundation in leadership and the skills necessary to apply leadership in a socially conscious college environment . This tier is designed to lay the groundwork for students to begin building their leadership skills and working in a collaborative group . The main focuses for this tier are as follows : Diversity / Individual Strengths , Leading with Mercy , Service , Ethics , Communication , Group Formation / Dynamics , Conflict Resolution , and Public Speaking . For their culminating projects , the Emerging Leaders are placed into teams and asked to participate in a service project that they feel especially passionate about .
However , this year their final projects posed a challenge . With the restrictions of COVID-19 , we encouraged the participants to think creatively – how can you serve this goal safely and still work together to advocate for change ?
The resulting final projects have been truly remarkable with these groups still finding ways to advocate for Climate Change , educate our GMercyU community about Human Trafficking , and attempting to collect items for individuals who are experiencing homelessness , all while learning more about themselves .
Please enjoy the final presentations created by the 2021 Emerging Leaders .
