FALL PEP RALLY
The
SCA
organized
and held a Pep
Rally in October to
encourage athletes and
increase school spirit.
During the fall sports sea-
son, Volleyball, Tennis, and Cross
Country, athletes have the chance to
improve and impress their coaches, but
Pep Rally is the event where they get recog-
nized.
The Pep Rally was especially fresh according to Harry Cho be-
cause the Lower Secondary students joined in for the first time. Sarah Kim,
SCA Historian, explained the special point of this Pep Rally was “getting to know
The senior class cheer in the name of School Spirit. The
seniors held up signs handed out by the Senior Class
SCA, spelling out “Seniors 2K17: LIMI7LESS”. Many mem-
bers of the senior class painted their face to show their
enthusiasm for their grade as they went into the gym.
Lower Secondary students.”
Cross country Captain So Eun Kim, a new student, expressed her gratitude to the SCA by explain-
ing she felt she had “finally become a part of the GSIS community”. She elaborated, “It was
my first time seeing and interacting with people from the lower secondary school. Also, it was my first
time singing and hearing the GSIS Fight Song.”
So Eun expressed, she really enjoyed her Pep Rally experience, “After working really hard
throughout the season, it was time to show people how hard we worked this season.”
Lucas Lee, sophomore, added, learning “what the school achieved during the season” was moti-
vational for him as he wanted to play soccer during the spring season.
On the week, Pep Rally is held, SCA hosts Spirit Week, where students show school spirit in
different ways. Previously, Spirit Week involved dressing up to a theme. For Fall, SCA incorporated
more up-to-date social network platforms such as Snapchat.
“Students would do a certain thing that day, for example send an emoji or
send their first experience during school and we [SCA] would film that, then
reward the grade with the most participation,” said Sarah, SCA Historian.
The SCA hopes that the next Pep Rally, which would be during the winter season, will be an
even greater success than this Pep Rally.
