Lower secondary theatre arts with Ms. Schneider’s
ardent teaching, allowed students not only to grow their pas-
sion in theater, but also cultivated in them a spirit to develop a
risk-taking attitude.
“I wanted to take risks and become a
more confident individual. ”
Leo Chun said, “I wanted to take risks and become a more
confident individual. Although I wasn’t the best student [in the
class], I thought there was room for improvement there.” He
explained, drama required him to step out of his comfort zone
and take a risk speaking in front of his classmates, no matter

how silly the task was.
After exploring drama in theatre arts, Vaughn Schneider
took a risk himself to further his interest in drama by occasion-
ally joining in an improv session hosted by Ms. Schneider every
Tuesday night. After a couple of sessions, Vaughn found it to
become his “passion.”
Drama has many components to it and requires students
to be able to step out of their comfort zone and take risks. Mya
Freeman challenged herself outside of the classroom by audi-
tioning for the Spring play ‘But Why Bump Off Barnaby’. Mya
was willing to take those risks not just for the fun of it, but
also because drama class helps her gain “better public speak-
ing skills.” She said, “I think that drama will help in every aspect
of life.”
