serving rotation against the first match of the day against SIS. 2. Jeffer Ward practices the proper posture and po-

sition for hitting the volleyball with guidance from Coach Thomas. In order to hone their form, players spent time
before games spiking the ball against the wall. 3. Maria Galkina, Kailey Park, Christine Nam, Winky Kim, Yerine
Choi, and Sarah Baek watch the boys game from the sideline. When not playing in a game themselves, students
often came out to support the GSIS teams that were on the court. 4. Peter Lee, Tobey Lee, Paul Lee, Derrick Han,
and Partha Yashraj spectate a match held in GSIS. Former and current Varsity Volleyball players volunteered to help
coach and manage players. 5. Mya Freeman holds the ball in preparation of serving. Serving was an important skill
to learn for aspiring players as it’s possible to lose points very easily if one cannot serve over the net. 6. Clara Shin
spikes the ball set from her teammate. Players practiced receiving balls to increase their chance of scoring. A set
play often involves a receive, a pass and a spike to propel the ball over the net. 7. Malia Williams bumps the ball.
Players practiced a variety of passes and receives due to the rotational nature of volleyball. Every time the team
earns a score, players on the court rotate clockwise, changing their position and role on the court. 8. Prior to
the start of the jamboree home meet, Ezra Thomas and Partha Yashraj practice spiking down the ball. In order to
evade blockers, hitters needed to be able to hit the ball with power and precision.
