Quickly paying for his food, Jude Joung takes his ramen as a snack before his homeroom. Right before homeroom, hungry students can purchase food from the snack shop, which is run by a different club each week. Morning break allows Upper Secondary and Lower Secondary students to mingle while they purchase food. 2. Hansol Lee and Eric Shin crowd around Ryan Yi’s i Pad while watching a video during lunch. Each student from first grade to seventh grade must purchase an iPad for school. Many students also use them for recreational activities, such as watching videos during their free time. 3. Demonstrating his point with clever hand motions, Matthew Ahn gestures what he means to Janghyun Lee. Since there are only two breaks during the day, some students decide to talk while they walk to their next class. 4. Jaime Suh peruses, “Tuesdays with Morrie,” while in pajama’s waiting for her chance to get food. In Upper and Lower Secondary, it was pajama day as a part of spirit week. Those wishing to display extra school spirit dressed up in outfits that matched the theme. Some even brought props, such as a stuffed moose, to help make their costume look more convincing. 5. In an attempt to win the soccer game, Kevin Youm kicks the ball around the defender, hoping to score a goal. If a student brings their own soccer ball to school they can have fun playing soccer outside. On this particular day, it was a match of Kevin Youm against Jason Park. 6. Prepared for the offense’s move, Jason Park successfully deflects the ball. For this game, the students were forced to use only half of the field, as the P.E. class was using the other side of the field. 7. Patiently waiting for their homeroom teacher to arrive, Rinky Rajkumar, Ekagra Tomar, and Joseph Park look at an entertaining photo. Since some teachers do not get a break due to block schedules, they use the break period to get snacks or get a drink of water. 8. Shooting the ball in a quick game of pickup basketball, Ezra Thomas shows off his impressive basketball skills. Ezra Thomas, Jeison Ward, and others often go outside to play a quick game of basketball during recess. Ezra Thomas was in the lead on this game, and he managed to keep his lead throughout the entirety of the lunch break. 9. Happy to finally be outside, Matthew Ahn enjoys his little bit of freedom. Since the swings were open on this day, Matthew Ahn finally got a chance to use them. 9 GSIS Yearbook-LSS_Part 2.indd 69 69 4/17/16 6:00 PM
