1. Harry Cho, Hijiri Kamigawa and
Jeff Jin congratulate Jun Park after
he scores a goal against APIS. The
Knights scored a victory against APIS
with an impressive score of 6 to 4.
2. Hijiri Kamigawa practices dribbling
the ball through a set of cones. The exercise helped the soccer players improve
their control over the ball. 3. Brandon Lee
dribbles the ball during an APIS game. All of
the dribbling drills they did during practice
helped him maneuver the soccer ball with
great dexterity. 4. Zachariah Ward kicks the
ball with determination during soccer practice. The players performed drills to polish their
techniques, especially dribbling and defending.
5. Minsung Kim tosses the ball towards Hijiri Kamigawa so that he can practice a heading. Each
player took turns heading the ball, an important
technique because the use of hands is forbidden.
6. David Kim tries to defend and block the ball from
his opponent. The soccer players had to be careful
not to dive in and but instead contain the other player.
7. John Park pulls his leg back in preparation for a powerful kick. The athletic strength built up during practice
allowed players to have decisive victories against other
schools. 8. Jeff Jin holds the ball behind his back to throw it
across the field. Players had to throw the ball back into the
game when it went out of bounds. 9. David Kim dribbles the
ball away from members of the SIS team. Players had to be
fast and agile to prevent the other team from getting the ball.
10. John Park lies on the soccer field as Jeff Jin stretches his leg.
When the players pulled a muscle, they had to stretch for a long
period of time to recover. 11. Hijiri Kamigawa does a header on
the soccer ball. Throughout the season, the soccer team honed old
skills and developed new ones, including the header.

In the semifinals against KIS. John got an early red card. We were down one man. Semifinals was the toughest game to focus on because it was my last high school soccer match and everything was going against
our favor. But in that moment, I could feel the team fighting harder than ever before. Scoring two goals, we
managed to tie and beat them in the penalty shootouts. It was the most hard fought victory I had ever tasted.
Football is God`s gift to humanity, it is beautiful in many aspects. Have fun with the
ones around you, because you will miss playing with them. Encourage others and
bring each other up, because Knights are strongest when they stay as one. Fight
hard for each other, because you are a team, and a team wins and loses as a team.

I liked playing soccer at GSIS because I appreciated my team
mates. They were nice, friendly, and helpful. They taught
me a lot when I struggled and they knew how to calm me
down when I was too aggressive during the game.

What I liked about coaching the GSIS boys soccer team was
that they ate and breathed soccer. They always wanted to get
better and always loved to compete. As time went on we
developed a real pride and confidence. Every time we took the
field, the boys believed they could win. But that winning did not just
happen, but was something to be worked towards. The best memory is
GSIS winning the division 1 regular season title. It was only our second
year in Division 1 yet we easily demonstrated we were on the top.
