With the completion of SRC’s expansion, BP was the only oil company to have ownership
in two refineries in Singapore, with a total refining capacity of 84,000 barrels per day in
Singapore. The expansion project inauguration ceremony was officiated by the late First
Deputy Prime Minster, Dr Goh Keng Swee.
Construction of BP Group’s $31 million copper-clad laminates plant in Jurong began.
1983
BP sponsored Top of the Trade 83 TV series which highlighted the importance of VITB and
EDB training centres to the industrial and technological development of Singapore.
BP Singapore was awarded a contract to supply aviation fuel to Singapore Airlines at
Singapore Changi Airport.
Inauguration ceremony for SRC catalytic reformer and visbreaker by Minister for Foreign
Affairs and Culture, S. Dhanabalan on 19 August.
BP Detergents International sets up office in Singapore.
BP Minerals S.E. Asia Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of BP Minerals International, was formed in
Singapore.
1984
BP Minerals S.E. Asia Pte Ltd was registered in Singapore for the purpose of expanding and
consolidating mineral activities in the region.
BP took an 80% share in SRC’s Hydrocracker complex which is scheduled for completion in
March 1986. BP got 8,500 bpd capacity in the 10,500 bpd hydrocracker, 18,000 bpd in the
24,000 bpd vacuum unit and capacity in other association plants.
