BP Singapore Milestones
1962
Refinery was commissioned at Pasir-Panjang (Berlayer Point) and was supplied by BP with
crude oil from the Gulf in an arrangement with Union Oil of California.
1964
BP officially took over from Maruzen Toyo Oil Company on 1 June. BP Refining Company
was formed.
BP Malaysia Ltd was incorporated (at that time Singapore was part of Malaysia). The Office
was established at Crosby House, Robinson Road with David B Robertson as Managing
Director.
1965
The construction of a temporary aviation depot for BP Singapore was completed in March.
Air BP Singapore Paya Lebar’s first fuelling job, was a Lufthansa Boeing 720 aircraft in April.
The first service stations in Singapore were opened – BP Joo Chiat Road and BP MacPherson
Road
BPS’s aviation depot was completed.
1966
Following the independence of Singapore in 1965, BP Singapore Pte Ltd was incorporated on
1 December.
1967
Singapore Refinery was commissioned in January.
1968
BP commenced a marine supply service in Singapore in February. Today BP Singapore is the
largest port of supply for BP Marine lubricants in the world.
