2000 and beyond...
Singapore has grown into a first-world nation.
There was sufficient housing, the streets were
clean, there was an efficient public transportation
system and the economy was still growing. Lee
Hsien Loong became the third Prime Minister of
Singapore in 2004. Policy changes were introduced
such as reducing the national service duration to
two years and the legislation of casino gambling, to
improve Singapore’s global profile. The Singapore
Grand Prix was re-established in 2008 and the
country hosted the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics.
Singapore has come a long way from a humble
fishing village to a modern and cosmopolitan city.
