Therefore, we are committed to:
• Providing a safe environment where there is consistency and
routine
• Setting reasonable rules, limits and expectations that are
developmentally appropriate
• Using redirection to refocus a child’s attention, achieve a more
positive outcome and avoid unnecessary confrontations
• Praising and reinforcing appropriate behavior
• Modeling behavior and language for children to follow
• Providing staff who serve as role models for
appropriate behavior
• Stating clear and consistent rules
• Developing consistent and ongoing communication
between staff and families
If a child is not obeying, we will follow the following procedures:
1. Attempt to redirect and refocus on the appropriate behavior
2. Issue a verbal warning, discussing the right choice for future
behavior
3. Removal from the activity and possibly a time out of aprox. 1
minute per year of age
4. A phone call to the parent for immediate pick up
A pattern of behavior infractions may result in the child being
suspended and possibly removed from the program. An incidence of
a severe nature may result in immediate removal from the program.
Severe infractions could include, but are not limited to, fighting,
destruction of property, repeated disrespect and rebellion, and
continued unsafe action.
