In GT124 we took a look back to some of the most iconic home ends at League grounds across the country in our article, Changing Ends. This time round we are recalling some of the best-loved terraces that were positioned along the sides of grounds and that have since been bulldozed in pursuit of modernity.
THE KIPPAX, MANCHESTER CITY

When Maine Road opened in 1923 The Kippax was one of three sides of huge open terracing. Taking on its own unique identity when a roof was added in 1956, the terrace was home to City’ s most vocal supporters, but their defiant songs that“ You’ ll never seat The Kippax” did not stop it being demolished in 1994, to be replaced by a huge 11,000-seat triple deck seated stand.
