GT126 notes
ISSN: 1363-2124
Welcome to issue 126, our autumn 2026 edition. As you know, our last issue was a bumper 104-page special celebrating our 125th edition. We received lots of positive comments about the new look and the extra content. In the Tea Bar section of this issue there is some additional material relating to the GT125 articles on Grange Road and GAA grounds being used for football.
Returning to our usual 80-page format, this issue has the usual mix of contemporary and historical content, as well as a number of interesting snippets. Things to look out for include the Nottinghamshire version of the‘ Wembley Arch’, a centrally heated 1960s non-league grandstand, plans for an English club ground to seat 100,000, a terrace built on piles of old rubbish and the little known stand in Essex that was the first of its type to be built in England.
As the 2026 / 27 season gets into full swing, there’ s plenty to see and do, including new and novel venues, new stands, and grounds nearing the end of their time. If you have a story that you think would interest our readers, we’ d love to hear from you.
