BEYOND THE GARDEN GATE From The President… The rains have kept the DABG green this year. It’s worth a trip just to see all the color in the annuals and perennials. As you can imagine, the grass cutting team has also been busy with mowing and trimming. The newly installed sidewalk has been something we have hoped to do for years. Thanks to the Dubuque Racing Association, the Wahlert Foundation and the Dubuque Regional Hosta Society for making our dream come true. Music in the Gardens concerts have been excellent with attendance ranging from 1,300 – 3,000 people. Many of our sponsors come back every year to make this possible. The volunteers are over 380 strong and have done a great job. You are very much appreciated! Submitted by Jack Frick, DABG Board President From The Director… We continue to progress and grow here at the Arboretum (I call it, “The Arb”). None of this could happen without volunteers in place to plan, fundraise, coordinate, plant, water, weed, set-up, tear down, mow, build, educate, greet and sell. The guided tour requests continue to come in. I want to thank our many trained tour guides who have shown up in their orange shirts to give our guests the grand tour. You, along with our Gift Shop workers, really are the “face” of the DABG. Our new and improved upscale Gift Shop is doing well and visitors comment on how lovely it is. It is a nice place to linger on hot days. Thank you for all you do to make this a place a beauty for all to enjoy. Every smile counts!
