BEYOND THE GARDEN GATE From The President… Our summer music concerts were very well attended this year. Thanks to the Dubuque Arts Council and Kay Kluseman for all the work they did. Our Fall Clean-up was great. We had 60-70 workers each Saturday. We, in Dubuque, are lucky to have the great kids from our colleges, high schools and middle schools. Again, this year, I want to thank our great volunteers (300+) for all the time and work at the DABG, including our office staff, gift shop, green team, brown team, orange team (tour guides), garden bed adopters, mow team, Operations Board, planning committee members, and all others who do not serve on a team but work hard the entire season. FROM THE GIFT SHOP As another successful season of the DABG Gift Shop heads into the archives I wish to thank the following for their cooperation and support. Our ongoing success is due, in small part, to a cohesive TEAM effort. My personal THANK YOU is extended to: the DABG Board of Directors; Dr. Del Williams, Volunteer Coordinator; Volunteer Clerks; Office Secretarial Staff; Tour Guides; New and Repeat Customers. I hope you enjoy some of the pictures in this issue that captured some of the scenes. Also, my sincere THANKS to Board President, Jack Frick and Executive Director, Sandi Helgerson for their confidence and unconditional support. It is hard to believe that another growing season has passed and we are preparing for another good old Iowa winter. Let’s hope that this year’s weather will be gentler on the trees and plants. We hope you had a chance to attend the workshop this fall that talked about “putting your beds to rest.” We are grateful for the partnership we have with the Dubuque County Extension Office in offering education for our community. Stay tuned – there will be another tree pruning workshop offered around February. Warm wishes for a Joyous Noel to all our Gift Shop supporters in celebrating a healthy and restful Holiday Season.
