Here on a companion ACS you can see the patterning around the eyes that sometimes happens. Incorporate the most natural crown that you can. A soft curve to the underside of the ear coat is preferred( these particular clients like the underline left).
When blending the neck coat into the head coat I will often take my 7 blade backwards from the occiput while blending near the ear set as I find this the easiest way to blend into the tightness of the ear. Realistically you must do whatever is most comfortable for you. We all know the dangers of 7 blades and how easily they can catch skin. I would rather you stick within your comfort zone for the safety of the dog.
