At Weltevrede Wine Estate in Bonnievale, everything revolves around heart and soil. Philip Jonker, a fourthgeneration winemaker, continues the legacy started by his great-grandfather Klaas in 1912. He holds a deep appreciation for vineyards that have borne fruit for more than one generation and crafts wines that reflect not only the terroir but also the living history of the farm.
Philip is a devoted Chardonnay producer. From caring for each vine to creating unique cellar experiences, his aim is for the character of the land to be recognisable in every glass. Though his wines have received many awards, he regards his greatest reward as the visitor who steps into the tasting room to experience the story of the wine for themselves.
