GREY COLLEGE BOAT CLUB

ISSUE 1 • 2016 – 2017 welcome

A Happy New Year to all club members, and welcome to the first GCBC newsletter of 2017( thank you Tom Fox for bringing this together).
As we say goodbye to 2016, we can celebrate a successful year for the club. The largest men’ s squad for 5 years upped the dedication to training, and as a result have become one of the ones to beat in Durham. The women’ s squad have progressed significantly as a friendly, cohesive squad, and continue to move towards becoming the Queens of the Wear. The club also had a successful fresher intake, with both seniors squads growing in size, and socials seeing a large numbers of fresher’ s. The year ahead offers plenty of opportunity for everyone, both for rowing and socially. The annual GCBC ball is first at the start of February, with WEHORR and HORR following in March, and Boat camp lined up for the Easter holidays. The summer term will see GCBC competing at multiple regattas, including; York, Hexham, and Durham, with the term ending with the traditional summer cruise. Thank you to David Drury and all outgoing exec for their hard work during the last year, let’ s make 2017 an even better one! We hope you enjoy reading this first edition.
