Roughing It – NOT Glamping experiences are sometimes hard to leave behind
For many, camping is an acquired taste as the effort entailed in“ roughing it” isn’ t exactly for everyone. But resort-style accommodations in idyllic woodland settings have been growing in popularity and have introduced“ glamping” as a more comfortable alternative.
Located between Lake Tawakoni and Wills Point, one such experience awaits those craving a romantic weekend in the woods, away from the same four walls of the office and Zoom calls – it’ s called Domance Glamping, as half of its units feature dome structures, perfect for relaxing under the stars in snug climate-controlled comfort.
“ Domance Glamping opened just over two years ago with a clear vision: to create a luxury nature retreat where couples can reconnect, celebrate love and enjoy a truly private experience,” Domance Glamping told Greenville Life.
“ The idea came during the pandemic, when time spent outdoors brought a renewed appreciation for calm, stillness and meaningful connection,” they added.“ We wanted to offer that same sense of escape to others.”
While Domance is especially popular for anniversaries, honeymoons, birthdays and proposals, their team also welcomes a range of guests who are seeking something simpler than their regular daily routine; whether it’ s a parents night off, a girls night out, or even a solo traveler wanting a peaceful place to recharge.
“ Regardless of the occasion, the focus is always on relaxation, reconnection and romance,” Domance said.
Currently, Domance features four units, each at least 250 feet apart from another unit, and all include a private hot tub, bathroom, kitchen and deck.
“ There are no shared walls, no communal facilities – just you and your companion immersed in a natural setting with total privacy,” Domance said.
In addition to lodging, Domance also offers various curated experiences; such as candlelit dinners, outdoor movies and custom proposal setups.
Despite the what they have in common, each of Domance’ s units offers a somewhat different vibe. They are the rustic Treetopia, the whimsically honeycomb-shaped HoneyHive, the stargazing-focused StarLite and the ultra luxurious NestScape.
“ We just went here for a quick weekend getaway and I didn’ t want to leave,” said visitor Liz Perriton.“ It was so peaceful and romantic, clean, cute and comfortable, and I was immediately regretting not staying another night.
“ I love to camp but my husband hates it, so this was the perfect compromise,” Perriton added.“ I cannot recommend it enough. We stayed in the Treetopia dome and loved it. It’ s such a fun unique experience.”
