The smith is in control, specifying which parts he is willing to work with, recommending the supplier to the client, the purchasing of quality products that the smith knows will work for a quality product. The agreement between the gunsmith & the client needs to be understood that if the client changes his/her mind on building the project & it has started. The supplies (parts) will not be returned because of time spent & work involved up to this point in the build. If the smith decides to opt out, example: problems between the client & smith, then parts will be returned. If the client has not paid for the smith’s labor & shipping costs the gun will stay with the smith until this has been completed & agreed upon. The parts kits are subject to change in costs per our suppliers. The same with labor charges from one year to the next. Remember these are custom built guns like our motto states. "Building One Gun At A Time". Not the cookie cutter firearms that larger manufacturers are producing. If you have a gun in the process of being built, it will stay at the labor charge quoted at the time of that build. It will not be changed if there was a price increase. NOTE FROM DOC - REFERENCE PRICING "Final price is between the individual smith & his client. The total costs could range widely, depending on parts, wood, & decoration. Special detailing raises the price: example - Bridger Hawken rifles usually sell for $1800- $2400 (parts included), depending on wood & finish (options like antique rust bluing, case color, silver plating, fancy sights, etc. run the price up)". "The gunsmith will quote a fair range on the price: example - $900-$1200 labor, parts not included (client purchase) for a plainer Hawken rifle. The customer will cover the cost of parts, supplies & shipping to the smith’s address. Once work is started the parts are not recoverable by the client unless the smith opts out of the agreement. If the client fails to come thru with final payment for labor & shipping the parts become the property of the gunsmith". PRICES WILL BE ADJUSTED AS NEEDED "Considering the rarity of these firearms, the time value invested in each build, & increasing parts cost, we want to 'price at market', i.e.- what the market will reasonably bear (fair value). Each smith is going to have to work that out with each individual client to be fair to both parties." DOC ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 6
