Food is at the heart
of Green Country

In the best of hands,
food is edible art, as beau-
tiful plated as it is divine to
taste.
The taste is what peo-
ple crave, be it flavor rem-
iniscent of mom’s home
cooking or that created
with authentic spices
from another country.
When a person savors
every bite and later re-
members how delicious
the meal was, he’ll look
forward to returning, es-
pecially if the fare is from
a local restaurant.
The Tahlequah area is
home to a variety of plac-
es to satisfy hunger and
cravings.
Hungry House Café’s
homestyle buffet menu
changes daily, while Sam
and Ella’s Chicken Palace
offers favorites custom-
ers crave enough to drive
miles for. Authentic cui-
sine is available, like the
fares at Linney Breaux’s
Cajun Eatery, José’s Mex-
ican Restaurant, and Na-
poli’s Italian Restaurant.
Open on weekends, Jincy’s
Kitchen is a destination
for home-style cooking.
Every day for two
weeks, Jacob Burson has
eaten at Hungry House
because the food is so
good and it offers variety.
“I eat out everywhere,
but this right here is one
of the best,” Burson said.
“And breakfast is amazing,
too. It’s more traditional.”
He likes the large por-
tions, great prices, and the
staff.
“They’re very respect-
ful and friendly,” he said.
As head server, Randi
Shields knows the value of
customer service.
“I love my customers;
that’s why I’m still here. I
love my co-workers. I try
to make everybody laugh
and be full and smiling
when they leave,” Shields
said. “We have good food,
good service, and home
cooking. No beans from a
can – just real home cook-
ing.”

Cynthia
Kirkhart and Wiley Scott
are also regulars at Hun-
gry House.
“They have the best
burgers anywhere in
town, and the best service.
They check on you and in-
teract and joke with you,”
said Kirkhart.
Scott’s favorite is the
grilled ham and cheese.
The customer service at
Linney Breaux’s is one rea-
son Gena McPhil picked
the Tahlequah restaurant
as a favorite.
“I love the fun atmo-
sphere. Their menu is
