How should the countries and territories of the Southwest Pacific respond to the “ next wave ” or the next pandemic ? How are the wider economic disruption , processes of social transformation , climate change , and geopolitical realignment playing out in the lived realities of young people from across the region ?
• Grapple with some of the truly big questions of our time at a research workshop specifically for undergraduate students .
• Present your paper and engage with peers from Australia , New Zealand and from across the francophone Pacific .
• Grow presentation skills and obtain peer feedback as well as senior experts ’ advice .
• Build network of collaborators and meet new friends from across the region
• Paper contributions ( in French , English or Pacific languages ) will be published as conference proceedings by UNC University Press .
Submitting a paper
The workshop will be a highly interdisciplinary format , and papers will be organised in a series of thematic roundtable discussions around interdisciplinary themes such as
• Evolving Inequalities
• Scientific Enquiry
• Civil Society and the Quest for Justice
• Cultural and Linguistic Diversity
• Language , Literature and Media
• Minority & Diaspora communities
• Asia-Pacific / Pacific Asia
• Race and the Colonial Legacy
Proposals for papers ( in English , French or Pacific languages ) open on 1 November 2020 . The deadline for submissions is 1 February 2021 .
Prepare a 200 word abstract summarising your proposed paper / presentation and email to pacific . futures @ nic . nsw . edu . au .
