Kate Rinne, owner of The Statement, a boutique clothing store
in downtown, shared her emotions in a “Why Cheyenne?” video
as well and stated, “I love Cheyenne, because I grew up here,
then moved to New York, but soon decided to go back home.
I like the community here, people are really great, enthusiastic
and supporting. It is a growing community and there are a lot of
young professionals who are coming to Cheyenne.”
Unique to Cheyenne is the fun opportunities the community has
from the farmers market, to a fun concert on Friday evenings in
the Depot Plaza during the summer months. There are variety of
traditions the community has which creates a community-wide
family. Weekly, the Cheyenne Depot’s clock is maintained by
Glen Garrett, a local architect whose office is just up the street
from the Depot. During his adventures of climbing to the top of
the Depot clock tour, he will take visitors and show them the
inside workings of this historic landmark. He manually winds
the clock and explains the history of this iconic piece of history.
Additionally, in the coming years, the State of Wyoming Capitol
will be undergoing construction. During this remodel they will
preserve historical elements from the art to the lighting fixtures.
A community tradition unseen by the public is a quick journey
up into the dome of the Capitol. Going up a few flights of steep
stairs, community members may receive the opportunity to go
into this restricted area. Once in the dome, visitors have the
opportunity to sign their name on the structural beams and
window seals to mark this rare occasion. Having such inimitable
events and opportunities in Cheyenne makes each community
member and visitor feel special. These hidden treasures keep
traditions alive.
“Cheyenne has a small town feel, but there are many parks
where your kids can go and play, and a greenway to walk. It’s
just a small town where there community members want to step
up and make a difference. I like Cheyenne because for families,
you can get everything you need, without the hustle and bustle
of big cities,” said David Ellgen, Volunteer Program Coordinator
at Youth Alternatives in a feature created by RE/MAX Capitol
Properties.
In fact, Cheyenne is becoming ever-more progressive and
developed from day to day. With Fort Collins and Denver being
just south, people can live a relaxed life and still enjoy the big
city feel whenever they want. But the most important trait of
Cheyenne is its people who are genuine, caring and who want
to help each other. Whether you have a family of your own, are
retired, or a young professional, when you live in Cheyenne you
become a part of a family, a community that keeps your best
interest at heart. Cheyenne is home to an array of people who all
have a variety of interests and together, the community frames
an accepting and kind environment for all who reside in it.
