The military established in Cheyenne the first day it was made a city. The start was a protection for the railroad that was under construction. More than a century later, the military is still here protecting important assets of our country. Although horses and artillery have been replaced by intercontinental ballistic missiles, C-130 airplanes and Blackhawk helicopters the mission remains the same. FE Warren AFB is a real source of opportunity for 2015. As Wyoming’s largest employer, it has grown by almost 400 people in the last few months. The nuclear mission was recently at risk, but is now being well funded with needed projects being listed as priorities. Certainly it will take work from the community and our delegation in DC to keep these projects online, but there is much opportunity if we can take advantage of it. will provide wonderful opportunities for our community many years into the future. The Wyoming Guard offers its own opportunities. C-130 airplanes do critical missions for this country and eight are located, right here, in Cheyenne. It will be incumbent on us to make sure our Guard is supplied with the latest equipment to be competitive. I am always proud when I see a C-130 take off to go fight fires or do medi-vac missions (among other missions) and if we work hard to support the Guard, it 2015 is going to be a great year. Your Chamber of Commerce is committed to help you take advantage of all the possibilities the year will offer and we will be there by your side when the challenges appear. Meet the Challenges 2015 presents some unique challenges. As a business organization, we are very concerned about an increasingly challenging environment to build new projects and expand existing ones. We are faced with workforce issues and retention of young professionals. Businesses are confronted with challenges of ever increasing regulation and red tape, while at the same time, margins are being squeezed because of ever increasing global competitors who are not faced with many of these hurdles. Yes, their will always be challenges, but we must continue to work together as a business community to meet them head on. Have a prosperous 2015 everyone.
