while the Region 10 average is 89.5 %. Region 10 includes many much larger districts, such as Plano, Highland Park, Rockwall, Mesquite, Kaufman and Crandall, making AISD’ s performance especially notable for a 4A district of roughly 3,000 students.
AISD’ s college readiness numbers are even more impressive. For the 2025-2026 school year, a whopping 29 % of the Class of 2026 graduated with associate degrees two weeks before receiving their high school diplomas. By comparison, the statewide average for associate degree graduates is 3.1 %, while the Region 10 average is 3.9 %. That means Athens ISD students are earning associate degrees at a rate more than nine times the state average.
AISD students are also outperforming state and regional averages in dual-credit coursework. Statewide, 25.1 % of graduates complete nine or more dual-credit hours before graduating high school. In Region 10, the average is 24.1 %. At Athens ISD, that number climbs to 36.8 %.
Those outcomes reflect years of intentional investment in college readiness, strong partnerships with Trinity Valley Community College and the Ginger Murchison Foundation, and a district culture that encourages students to think beyond high school.
That early-college momentum continues to grow. This spring, 53 Athens High School students graduated from Trinity Valley Community College with associate degrees. Forty-nine of those students came through the PINNACLE Early College High School program, while four earned degrees through dual-credit coursework. Opportunities like these continue to set Athens ISD apart and provide families with a tremendous head start on college and career success.
Career and Technical Education also had a banner year. AISD was recognized as a Career and Technical Education District of Distinction, an honor that reflects the strength of programs ranging from welding and agriculture to health science, criminal justice, culinary arts, HVAC,
