Athens Independent School District has plenty to celebrate as the 2025-2026 school year closes. From academic achievement and athletics to fine arts and preparation toward the future, this year has been one of momentum, pride and continued growth across the district.

“ Our goal is our motto, to be the educational heart of East Texas,” said Superintendent Janie Sims.“ One of the clearest signs of our success can be found in the numbers.”

According to the most recent Texas Academic Performance Reports available at press time, Athens ISD boasts a 97.3 % four-year graduation rate. For perspective, the statewide graduation rate is 90.7 %,
