OSCA OSCA President – Andrew Crawford ('89) The OSCA alumni engine continues apace OSCA is extremely proud of its expanding levels of engagement MR ANDREW CRAWFORD ('89) OSCA PRESIDENT OSCA’s 91st Annual Dinner, held at Leonda on 25 May, was a great success. OSCA was privileged to have the Honourable Julie Bishop MP, the then Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, as our Guest of Honour. Julie was heartily welcomed by all, and presented to a packed house an exceptional speech on foreign policy and Australia’s important role in the international community. OSCA was also honoured to have present on the night many distinguished guests, including the Right Honourable Josh Frydenberg MP, Minister for Energy and the Environment, Mr Tim Smith MP (‘01), State Member for The OSCA alumni engagement engine has continued apace, with the Perth branch dinner on 10 May, the New York branch dinner on 13 June, the Adelaide branch dinner on 14 June, Hong Kong branch drinks on 23 June, the North-East/ Rutherglen branch lunch on 22 July and Sydney branch drinks on 9 August. OSCA is extremely proud of its ever-expanding levels of engagement, as demonstrated by these events. OSCA continues to support the Victorian Scottish Cultural Heritage Foundation, which together with the Scots of Victoria Coordinating Group, hosted the inaugural Melbourne Tartan ABOVE: ARCHIVES BUILDINGS AT 2 AND 3 MORRISON STREET WHICH WILL BECOME OSCA'S NEW HOME Kew, Councillor Coral Ross, the Honourable Dr David Kemp AC (‘59), Chairman of the School Council, and Mr Tom Batty, Principal of the School. In my Annual Dinner welcome address, I had the pleasure of announcing the Archives Museum and OSCA House project. OSCA’s offices – which are currently housed within the Randall Building at Scotch – will be moving just over the road to 2 and 3 Morrison Street. The School’s Archives will be consolidated at this location in a new and fit-for-purpose storage and viewing facility, befitting the treasured and rich history of our great School. Planning and design are well underway, with renovation works expected to start in early 2019. OSCA is extremely excited at the prospect of having its own stand-alone facilities, and is grateful for the ongoing support of the School and the Development Office in this initiative. 70 Festival from 19 to 22 July. The Old Scotch Music and Drama Club will stage eight performances of the much-loved Les Misérables between 18 and 27 October. The Old Scotch Symphony Orchestra’s concert on 26 August celebrated OSSO’s five years as a club, in which it has provided a showcase of Scotch community talent. As always, OSCA is very proud of these events and encourages its alumni to attend them wherever possible. Related to OSCA’s ongoing theme of ‘improving engagement’, OSCA continues to work on a number of initiatives behind the scenes, including a ground-up review of its information technology platform and website, implementing a systematic process of engagement with its 25 clubs and societies, and conducting a review and update of the OSCA constitution.
