MR ANDREW CRAWFORD
('89) OSCA PRESIDENT
OSCA’s 91st Annual Dinner, held at Leonda on 25 May,
was a great success. OSCA was privileged to have the
Honourable Julie Bishop MP, the then Federal Minister for
Foreign Affairs, as our Guest of Honour. Julie was heartily
welcomed by all, and presented to a packed house an
exceptional speech on foreign policy and Australia’s important
role in the international community.
OSCA was also honoured to have present on the
night many distinguished guests, including the Right
Honourable Josh Frydenberg MP, Minister for Energy and
the Environment, Mr Tim Smith MP (‘01), State Member for
The OSCA alumni engagement engine has continued
apace, with the Perth branch dinner on 10 May, the New York
branch dinner on 13 June, the Adelaide branch dinner on 14
June, Hong Kong branch drinks on 23 June, the North-East/
Rutherglen branch lunch on 22 July and Sydney branch
drinks on 9 August.

Principal of the School.
In my Annual Dinner welcome address, I had the pleasure
of announcing the Archives Museum and OSCA House
project. OSCA’s offices – which are currently housed within
the Randall Building at Scotch – will be moving just over the
road to 2 and 3 Morrison Street. The School’s Archives will
be consolidated at this location in a new and fit-for-purpose
storage and viewing facility, befitting the treasured and rich
history of our great School. Planning and design are well
underway, with renovation works expected to start in early
2019. OSCA is extremely excited at the prospect of having
its own stand-alone facilities, and is grateful for the ongoing
support of the School and the Development Office in this
initiative.

Festival from 19 to 22 July. The Old Scotch Music and Drama
Club will stage eight performances of the much-loved Les
Misérables between 18 and 27 October. The Old Scotch
Symphony Orchestra’s concert on 26 August celebrated
OSSO’s five years as a club, in which it has provided a
showcase of Scotch community talent. As always, OSCA
is very proud of these events and encourages its alumni to
attend them wherever possible.
Related to OSCA’s ongoing theme of ‘improving
engagement’, OSCA continues to work on a number
of initiatives behind the scenes, including a ground-up
review of its information technology platform and website,
implementing a systematic process of engagement with its
25 clubs and societies, and conducting a review and update
of the OSCA constitution.
