LACHY REID (’89) began broadcasting at
just three, commentating cricket, basketball
and football games, and although the
broadcasts never went to air, he still has
the cassette tapes to prove it all. Lachy’s
media career began in radio in 1995 while he
was studying broadcasting at Edith Cowan
University’s Academy of Performing Arts. He
is now Channel Ten Perth’s senior AFL football
reporter, and he has won best news and
feature stories awards from the WA Football
Commission and the National Basketball
League. Lachy has commentated National
Basketball League matches for Channel Ten
and AFL football for ABC radio, Triple M, and
Croc Media’s AFL live broadcasts.
In 2014, Lachy was a commentator for
Channel 10 at the Sochi Winter Olympics;
he called swimming at the Commonwealth
Games at Glasgow; and commentated at the
Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. Lachy
and his wife Suzanne have two sons: Ben,
who attended Scotch College, Perth, and
Josh, who is a current student at the school.
Their daughter, Madi, attended PLC, Perth.

JAI DARVALL (‘97) studied Medicine
and Arts at the University of Melbourne, and
completed his dual medical training as an
intensive care specialist and anaesthetist in
2014. Since then, Jai has been employed
at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in clinical
practice and research, completing a PhD
this year examining frailty in critical care and
surgery. He also works at the University of
Melbourne, teaching the Doctor of Medicine
course. Jai and his wife Deepa live in the inner
north of Melbourne with their three boys aged
eight, six and four.
Since graduating from Melbourne
University in 2005 with Bachelor of Laws
and Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical)
degrees, PAUL GREENING (‘98) has worked
internationally as an energy/infrastructure
lawyer in private practice. Starting his career
in London with Linklaters, Paul moved to
Hong Kong in 2010 and spent six years
working with US firm Vinson & Elkins.
Appointed a partner in the US firm Akin Gump
Strauss Hauer & Feld in 2015, Paul moved to
Singapore with his wife, Kate, and since then
has led Akin Gump’s Asia energy practice.
Kate and Paul’s son, Harrison, was born
in 2018, and is booked to start at Scotch in
2030. The family enjoys travelling in the South-
East Asia region.
2000s
ANDREW DANOS (‘02) has been
appointed Honorary President of the Israeli
team for the Tokyo Paralympic Games, now
postponed until July/August 2021. Andrew
is accompanying the Israeli paralympic
delegation in all events and competitions
leading up to the Tokyo Paralympics. Andrew
said the appointment was the greatest honour
of his life. ‘Watching the incredible athletes
perform in their various sports is not only
a story of inspiration and passion, but also
an opportunity to see world class sporting
performances,’ he said.
After leaving Scotch, EDDIE BUTLER
(‘05) completed a Bachelor of Oral Health
degree at Melbourne University, and since
then he has worked in public and private
dental clinics, as well as lecturing as a clinical
demonstrator at both Melbourne and Charles
Sturt Universities. In 2015 Eddie returned
to Melbourne University to complete an
Advanced Clinical Scope Graduate Certificate
in Dental Therapy. After working for 10 years
in Toorak as an oral health therapist, Eddie
has since opened his own dental clinic –
Victorian Dental Group – in East Malvern,
which provides general and cosmetic dental
services. In 2019, Eddie married his partner of
10 years, Adam Bromage.
At school Eddie was Pipe Major of the
Pipes and Drums, and in the past few years
he has returned to playing the bagpipes, this
time with Old Scotch Pipes and Drums. He is
the club’s Pipe Sergeant and Vice President.
Last year HUGO MYLECHARANE (‘07)
co-founded a craft beer label, ‘A Local Beer’,
aiming to make great tasting beers while also
helping to fund community programs. The
launch has been most successful – the beer is
now available nationally – while A Local Beer
has donated more than 10,000 meals through
its partnership with food charity, Second Bite.
Hugo says his company’s long-term goal is
to run its own sustainable ‘green’ brewery,
funding community programs while respecting
the environment in its production processes.
The company is currently researching
and developing the use of leftover bread and
imperfect fruit from Coles supermarkets in
their brew. ‘We are currently a few years away
from achieving that,’ he says, ‘but it’s good
to have something to work towards!’ There’s
