HONOURS, 2020

Fifteen members of the Scotch Family are known to have received awards
in the 2020 Australia Day honours list. The awardees and the citations
for their awards are listed below.
According to the Australian honours website, our system of
honours and awards enables our citizens to be recognised
for excellence, achievement or meritorious service and
contributions to our society. Scotch Family members
who have been recognised with Australia Day awards
have made a positive impact in a wide variety of spheres.
Congratulations to them all. 8. Mrs Elizabeth Irwin (past parent) – Medal of the Order
of Australia (OAM)
Mrs Irwin received her award for service to community health.
1. Mr Robert Charles (Bob) Bulley ('42) – Medal of the
Order of Australia (OAM)
Mr Bulley received his award posthumously for service to
the community through charitable organisations. 10. Mrs Caroline Johnston (past parent) – Medal of the
Order of Australia (OAM)
Mrs Johnston received her award for service to the
community.
2. Dr Stephen Vincent Coles (past parent) – Member
of the Order of Australia (AM)
Dr Coles received his award posthumously for significant
service to veterinary science, and to professional bodies. 11. The Hon Charles Roderick (Rod) Kemp ('63 and past
parent) – Member of the Order of Australia (AM)
Mr Kemp received his award for significant service to the
Parliament of Australia, and to the people of Victoria.
3. Mr Thomas Frank Danos (past parent) – Medal of the
Order of Australia (OAM)
Mr Danos received his award for service to the law, and to
the community. 12. Dr Michael Kwok Leung (past parent) – Member of
the Order of Australia (AM)
Dr Leung received his award for significant service to
medicine, and to the international community.
4. Mr Frederick Gary (Gary) Edwards ('61) – Medal of the
Order of Australia (OAM)
Mr Edwards received his award for service to the community
through a range of organisations. 13. Mrs Susan Mary Logie-Smith (past parent) – Member
of the Order of Australia (AM)
Mrs Logie-Smith received her award for significant service
to the decorative and fine arts.
5. Mrs Kathryn Margaret (Kay) Edwards – Medal of the
Order of Australia (OAM)
Mrs Edwards received her award for service to the
community through a range of organisations. 14. Emeritus Professor Staniforth (Sam) Ricketson ('67) –
Member of the Order of Australia (AM)
Professor Ricketson received his award for significant service
to legal education, and to intellectual property law.
6. Dr Graham John Faichney ('55) – Member of the Order
of Australia (AM)
Dr Faichney received his award for significant service to
science in the fields of animal nutrition and physiology. 15. Professor Jeffrey David Zajac ('71) – Officer of the
Order of Australia (AO)
Professor Zajac received his award for distinguished service
to medical research and education, particularly in the field of
endocrinology, and to professional societies.
7. Associate Professor Ian Donald Hewson ('69 and past
parent) – Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM)
Professor Hewson received his award for service to dentistry.

9. Dr Wesley Sidney Jame OAM ('66) – Medal of the Order
of Australia (OAM)
Dr Jame received his award for service to community health.
