FOUNDATION LEFT AND BELOW: THE JAMES FORBES ACADEMY’S SIGNAGE HAS BEEN MODERNISED AND UPDATED NEW DONOR RECOGNITION SIGNAGE FOR JAMES FORBES ACADEMY When the James Forbes Academy was officially opened in February 2006, signage had been organised for all the key spaces, auditoriums and rooms, to provide a homogenous yet simple recognition of the many generous donors who had made this incredible performing arts centre become a reality. Many of the seats in the Ian Roach Hall and the Geoffrey McComas Theatre also bear the names of donors, and a limited amount of seats are still available for naming. (If you are interested in naming a seat, please contact Director of Development Tim Shearer on +61 3 9810 4301 or [email protected].) As we approach 15 years of full-time use of the JFA, and with new signage benchmarks set in the Sir Zelman Cowen Centre for Science and the Spencer Centre for Design and Technology, we have modernised and updated the academy’s 60 Great Scot Issue 159 – May 2020 signage to give clearer directions and to provide more information about some of our key donors. Because of the costs involved the project has been staged over a few years, but it was recently completed. We believe that not only do these signs fulfil their functional purpose, but they help us to tell our story of philanthropy in the arts. We hope they will also encourage others to think about how they too might invest in the future of our impressive performing arts curriculum, and all the extracurricular activities which take place within the James Forbes Academy. I take this opportunity to thank again the many generous people who made this outstanding facility available to the fortunate Scotch boys and staff who achieve amazing outcomes within it.
