We were invited to perform at a special event at a university, setting the tone for the morning with some sombre music. The boys then attended workshops and also packed food for the homeless – a salutary reminder that not everyone is as privileged as we are. The morning concluded with a second performance by the orchestra, which included Dvorak’s Cello Concerto. Our last destination was Los Angeles. Not many high school musicians can boast that they have enjoyed recording Disney film soundtracks at the Disney film studios, experiencing how the timing and the music is fitted together, with additional sound effects added later. At the conclusion, we were presented with a recording of our performances. It was an exceptional experience. Finally, the boys were released to run wild at the Disneyland Park – a whole day of fun in ‘the happiest place on Earth’. What a great way to end a fantastic trip!
