IMPROVING THE
SCOTCH EXPERIENCE
FOR EVERY BOY
Much of the Scotch College Development Office’s
attention is now focused on fundraising for the General
Sir John Monash Scholarship – in particular the 24 hour
campaign on Thursday 6 June, aiming to raise $750,000
to fund the scholarship in perpetuity. At the same time,
exciting development activity continues around the
School, with major improvements to dining facilities on
the Hill and in the day school. As well, we are well on our
way towards reaching our fundraising goal for the Archives
Museum and OSCA House project. There is never a quiet
day in the Scotch Development Office!
THE GENERAL SIR JOHN MONASH SCHOLARSHIP
In October 2017, the Scotch Family joined together to raise
over $1 million in 24 hours to fund Scotch’s first Indigenous
perpetual scholarship, the Tony Briggs (’85) Indigenous
Scholarship. Using the same 24 hour platform, we are again
looking to the Scotch Family to help create the General Sir
John Monash Scholarship in perpetuity. The scholarship will
honour the life, service and achievements of Scotch’s greatest
son, doing justice to the qualities he upheld throughout his life.
Sir John Monash was a passionate believer in the power
of education. This endowed scholarship recognises that belief
and his love of his old School.

Great Scot Number 156 – April 2019
Scotch is seeking to raise an initial capital fund of
$750,000 to endow in perpetuity one full academic
scholarship. Donations to the Scotch College Foundation
Scholarship Fund are tax deductible.
For just one day, on Thursday 6 June, every dollar donated
by members of the Scotch Family will be quadrupled through
the generous matching of supporters from the Scotch Family.
Gifts of every size will make a real difference. In addition to
gifts made within the 24 hour appeal period, gifts can also
be made by returning the enclosed donation form to the
Development Office prior to 6 June, and we will process them
as part of the 24 hour campaign. Please note that gifts need
to be received by 6pm on Thursday 6 June to be matched.
All gifts received will be directed towards the scholarship.
This is the equation: we have only 24 hours to raise the
full amount of $750,000, or we get nothing. Nothing less than
a full Scotch team effort is required! To become a matched
donor, inspiring other members of the Scotch Family to
support this cause, or to make a tax deductible donation prior
to 6 June, you are most welcome to contact me on
+61 3 9810 4301.
