Sport Our badminton team was again successful, and won all fixtures with the exception of the game against Haileybury. The team finished an admirable second, with Captain Leo Li (Year 12) and Jacky Zhang (Year 11) as the best performers. This is the 16th consecutive year that our team has finished either first or second in the APS competition. The diving squad continued its recent success, with yet another second place in APS diving. It was a tight competition but our consistency at all age groups and divisions provides a great platform for success. The team has managed four consecutive years of second places. Zach Hutchings (Year 9) was our best performer, achieving second place in the under 15 division A age group. Zach was well supported by Hugo Bernard (Year 10) and Josh Palazzo (Year 11), who each finished third in the under 16 and under 17 division A age groups respectively. Table tennis had its best year in some time, with a very creditable third place. Well led by Noah Philp and Nathan Cheng (both Year 12), the team started the season extremely well, winning its first four fixtures. The only losses were to Haileybury College and Wesley College. The swimming squad showed strong improvement from previous seasons, with a fifth placing on APS finals night, and also at the All Schools Relays. Dominic Tsui (Year 9), Max Boesley (Year 10), Darren Tan (Year 11), Sam Boesley (Year 7) and Toby McOmish (Year 9) were some of our better performers. The under 14 4x50 metres relay team broke both the Scotch College and APS records, and the team showed promise for the future. Volleyball competed well, and although the team was without luck early in the season, a strong finish led to the team finishing sixth. The School is committed to providing opportunities for our boys to participate in a range of sports, and apart from the APS competition we also field teams in a range of other competitions. Scotch continued its successful season in these sports with a dominant performance in 48 Great Scot Number 156 – April 2019
