OSCA COLLEGIANS ’ PRESIDENTS ’ LUNCH
– RELAXED , ENJOYABLE , INFORMATIVE
Scotch ’ s new Principal , Dr Scott Marsh was a special guest at the OSCA Collegians ’ annual Presidents ’ Lunch , held at Kooyong Tennis Club on 22 February . Dr Marsh spoke about his early days in his new role , and how he had been made to feel most welcome as a new member of the Scotch Family .
This lunch is always a most enjoyable event – a relaxed and informal occasion which enables OSCA Collegians members and past OSCA Presidents to come together and discuss issues with the
current OSCA President . There were 15 past OSCA Presidents at this year ’ s lunch , and nine OSCA Honorary Life Members among the 33 diners .
Bill Philip (’ 46 ), Captain of the School in 1947 , and Stroke of the Crew in 1946 ( when the crew won the Head of the River ) and 1947 , attended the lunch . Bill was OSCA President in 1974 – 49 years ago .
Current OSCA President Stephen Webster (’ 73 ) spoke about the association ’ s plans for 2023 and beyond , and then took questions from the floor .
OSCA Collegians is an OSCA-affiliated club which exists to support OSCA itself , so that OSCA can continue to perform its important work . The club primarily raises funds for OSCA through its annual membership subscription , and passes 100 per cent of those subscriptions through to OSCA , providing the association with a valuable and stable income stream to fund strategic initiatives without depleting its reserves .

BOWLS CLUB MEMBERSHIP GROWS
It is pleasing to report that the Old Scotch Bowls Club is growing its membership , with new members both male and female from the Scotch Family joining the club . This has come about thanks to the strength and reach of Great Scot , and word of mouth advertising among members and their Old Scotch friends and colleagues .
The club is now the largest among the APS old school bowls clubs , and the APS competition has had to combine several old school teams to play against Old Scotch to even up the numbers .
Regardless of that , our club still has vacancies for new members of the Scotch Family both male and female , and
THE OLD SCOTCH TEAM WHICH PLAYED CAMBERWELL GRAMMARIANS AT MCC GLEN STREET .
welcomes experienced bowlers as well as those who have not bowled but would like to learn .
The club plays on 13 Wednesdays during the season , starting in September through to April at two MCC bowls venues in Hawthorn . Two away matches are played against Royal Melbourne Golf Club Bowls
Section and the private West Brighton Club in Brighton . For more information or to view our excellent facilities , please don ’ t hesitate to contact me on 0411 253 633 or email : david . tennent @ bigpond . com .
