‘ VERSATILE DEFENDER ’ IS ON ST KILDA ’ S LIST
St Kilda Football Club has added Angus McLennan (’ 21 ) to its list as a ‘ Category B Rookie ’. St Kilda ’ s Head of List Management , James Gallagher , said St Kilda was pleased that Angus had joined the club . ‘ Angus is a versatile defender who has shown an ability to play on and defend against a variety of opponents ,’ he said . ‘ We ' ve known Angus for some time now , and we look forward to seeing him make the most of his opportunity at St Kilda .’
At Scotch , Angus was Vice Captain of the 2021 1st XVIII Football team , playing half-back . Sam Darcy (’ 21 ), now with the Western Bulldogs , was also in this team when Scotch won all games except against Xavier and narrowly missed out on an APS premiership .
Angus injured his shoulder against Caulfield Grammar in round two , 2021 , and sat out the rest of the season . He spent 2022 at the Sandringham Dragons in the NAB League as an under 19 player .

OLD SCOTCH SOCCER CLUB JUNIORS TRAINING ON THE MCKENDRICK OVAL AT SCOTCH
In 2023 the Old Scotch Soccer Club is playing in Victoria ’ s State League 1 for the first time in its history . A new league brings new challenges , but also a world of opportunity for the club !
The top men ’ s team at the club , the Seniors , started preseason strongly . A victory against Corio Soccer Club , another State League 1 team , was pleasing and demonstrated that the Seniors are more than capable of competing at this level . Another highlight was finally breaking the hoodoo against Mooroolbark Soccer Club at their home ground , beating them 2-1 .
The team has retained the bulk of the squad from last year , and boasts a large number of Old Scotch Collegians , and a former professional goalkeeper from South America . The Seniors are determined to be ultra-competitive in State League 1 and have selfimposed an expectation to win every game this year . The first game of the season was against local rivals , Collingwood Soccer Club , at H A Smith Reserve on 1 April , resulting in a 2-1 victory for us .
The Reserves similarly are determined to make their mark in State League 1 . After nearly finishing at the top of the league last year , the Reserves have high hopes for a strong showing in 2023 . There will be a focus on improvement and development among the squad . With a few wise old heads coupled with an injection of youth , the Reserves will have a competitive squad , albeit one
that is stepping up a level and will be tested . The overall goal is to be competitive in every game , as well as developing the younger players and building a strong foundation of players to support the Seniors .
In addition to preparing for State League 1 , the club worked hard during the off-season to field its inaugural women ’ s team this year , to grow its fantastic juniors ’ program for girls and boys , and to expand its Sunday teams for those who may be a little bit older but still keen to have a run about .
The club is very excited about the year ahead and welcomes current and past Scotch Collegians , as well as their families and friends , to support and join the club . We are also looking for sponsors for our inaugural season in State League 1 . We would love to hear from anyone in the Scotch Family who is interested in supporting our great club .
For any Old Scotch Collegians who are looking to join the club : the Old Scotch Collegians ’ Association will subsidise their registration fees by 50 per cent for their first year at the club .
