On the photos on this page , many would recognise that contagious smile that epitomises Tom Batty so well and whose legacy , as many mentioned during his last weeks on campus , includes providing Scotch College with a certain humanity and warmth .
Despite the cold weather , there was also much warmth to the proceedings that took place on 17 June as characterised by the beautifully lit Memorial Hall that beguiled any guest from the onset . Inside , there was a tremendous sense of camaraderie among the Scotch Family as members of the School Council , staff past and present , OSCA and Foundation members and many other guests were happy to be reunited , with familiar faces all sharing their feelings on the significance of the moment : the departure of a much-respected member of our community .
Tom Batty ’ s farewell cocktail celebration started with great panache thanks to a remarkable rendition of a medley of David Bowie songs by no fewer than five former School Captains :
