CLUB ’ S QUEST FOR SUCCESS IN 2022
Following the successes of last year , the Old Scotch Soccer Club has embarked on a new quest for even more success in 2022 . After two interrupted years , there is eagerness and excitement at the club about the possibility of a full season ahead .
The club began its preseason strongly . The Seniors have a strong representation from the School this year , with about a quarter of the squad being Old Scotch Collegians . The squad has also gained several new players , including two Old Boys from the Class of 2019 , Irfan Hrelja and Josh Allen .
At the time of writing the Seniors had won all but one of their preseason matches , including winning their first game in the Australia Cup ( formerly known as the FFA Cup ). The team has a good mixture of youth and experience , and hopes to have a strong year after finishing on top of the ladder after 14 games in 2021 .
Joe Reed , a past player and former coach of the Thirds team , has returned this year as coach of the Reserves . With his experience and professionalism , the Reserves and any Old Boys wanting to play at the club will benefit from his coaching . The Reserves squad
is looking strong , and at the time of writing was on three wins in a row in preseason ( including a win over St Kevin ' s Old Boys Soccer Club senior team ). The squad built momentum , fitness and match sharpness for the upcoming season .
The club maintains a strong connection with the School , and welcomes Old Boys who are looking to develop and grow as players , and to be part of strong squads at a great club . Training is on the club ' s grounds at H A Smith Reserve .
The club is also fielding junior teams for boys and girls in all age ranges . They are a fantastic way to learn and develop soccer skills and make new friends .
