FOUNDATION
TOM BATTY SCHOLARSHIP
Honouring 14 years of outstanding leadership
replacing the original General Science building which was also constructed in the 1960s . It seems buildings of this time have a limited life span of approximately 50 to 60 years , with other buildings on the campus from this era also earmarked to be replaced in time .
PILLAR 2 : SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Tom Batty Scholarship
To honour Tom Batty ’ s outstanding leadership of Scotch College over the past 14 years , the Scotch College Foundation is establishing the Tom Batty Scholarship . This perpetual scholarship will be awarded to boys with a proficiency in mathematics . The scholarship will also reflect Tom ’ s passion for and commitment to young people , and will provide a lasting legacy of his educational leadership and achievements .
The Foundation is seeking to raise $ 800,000 to create the Tom Batty Scholarship . Donations can be made through a one-off donation or a five-year pledge at any of the Foundation membership levels . I am delighted to report that , at the time of writing , over $ 300,000 has been committed to this special scholarship .
Donations to the Scotch College Foundation Scholarship Fund are tax deductible .
You are encouraged to join with us to celebrate Tom ’ s commitment to Scotch by making a donation to the Tom Batty Scholarship , as we look to open the doors to Scotch for boys who would otherwise be unable to attend the School .
Rioli Family Indigenous Scholarship
Sadly our plans to run our third 24-hour giving day in 2021 were thwarted by the COVID-19 pandemic and its associated lockdowns and restrictions . The Rioli Family Indigenous Scholarship Giving Day has now been rescheduled to Reconciliation Week in 2022 .
To honour the Riolis , and to create opportunities for future Indigenous students , Scotch College and the
Scotch College Foundation are establishing the Rioli Family Indigenous Scholarship .
The launch dinner at Leonda by the Yarra will be held on the evening of Wednesday 25 May 2022 , when the Scotch Family is encouraged to rally together to raise $ 2M in a single 24-hour period . The Rioli Family Indigenous Scholarship will endow in perpetuity three full Indigenous scholarships at Scotch . Indigenous advocate Dean Parkin will be guest speaker , and we hope a number of members of the Rioli family will attend as guests of honour .
If you are interested in attending the fundraising dinner , please contact Rebecca Mortimer via email at rebecca . mortimer @ scotch . vic . edu . au . Otherwise , we look forward to your support next year on Thursday 26 May , when we have just 24 hours to open the doors to Scotch for Indigenous students in perpetuity .
All donations made on the day will be tax deductible , and will be quadrupled , thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our matched givers who have made so much possible .
