THE NEW BOARDING CENTRE
Despite the obvious challenges , the Scotch College Development Office has managed to have a strong year thanks to the generosity of our community .
The Development Office works in five-year fundraising blocks and raises funds across five pillars . The areas of focus for the current fundraising period ( 2021-25 ) are outlined above .
PILLAR 1 : BUILDING FUND
Each of these projects has been identified as strategically important to the School . As you can read elsewhere in this edition of Great Scot , the Boarding Project is due to commence in December of this year . The project will see substantial improvements made to the Year 12 and staff accommodation facilities in both McMeckan and School Houses .
It also includes the refurbishment of the existing laundry , which presently resides in the only remaining part of the Glenn Estate , into a new boarding centre – a much-needed space where boys from each house can meet casually or formally , and a space where boarding families can gather when they visit the Hill .
Plans are afoot to replace the existing Main Oval pavilion which has served generations of boys well since 1965 . In order to build a new purpose-built facility , the School needs to build a Grounds compound to house the Grounds facilities presently residing in the Main Oval pavilion . Pending School Council approval , it is hoped that this project will be delivered within the next two to three years .
Once these two projects are complete it is proposed to build the Michael Robinson Centre for Mathematics on the southern side of the Keon-Cohen Dining Hall ,
