202cm , Sam has played both in the ruck and up forward , kicking 16 goals in the five APS games this season . Sam was also selected for Vic Metro in the Under 19 National Championships , and kicked six goals in a trial game against Vic Country .
Unfortunately , lockdown has delayed the championships until later in the year and we look forward to watching him showcase his talents . Sam has worked extremely hard for many years and is starting to get some reward for the countless hours of effort put in . We look forward to seeing him realise his immense potential , and hope he is able to achieve his childhood ambition of playing AFL football .
Oliver Marshall ( Year 12 ) played for the Victorian hockey team in the under 18 Australian Championships , held at Launceston ,
Tasmania , during the April school holidays . The team had a strong carnival , finishing third . Oliver was one of the better performers and gained selection in the ‘ Australian Futures ’ squad . The squad is due to attend a camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra later in the year , and is a pathway program aimed at identifying and fostering young talent for future national representation .
Oliver was also selected in the open age squad for Melbourne and was Captain of our 1st XI team . The school team finished second , with Oliver ’ s outstanding technical skills and attacking prowess on display each week . He has been a regular member of our senior team since Year 9 , and we look forward to watching his career develop as a senior hockey player .
