The 1st XVIII Football team brought great joy to all those who followed their season . The team played the most amazing brand of high-energy football , built on defensive pressure and quick ball movement . The opening round was a comprehensive 100-point victory against Geelong College , with Sam Darcy ( Year 12 ) standing tall to kick five goals , and Angus McLennan ( Year 12 ) and Mackenzie Allen ( Year 11 ) among the best players .
Round two saw arguably the best win in the last decade , as our boys slowly dismantled the highly-rated Caulfield Grammar by 11 points . It was a genuine team effort , with all boys contributing and playing their roles . Sam Darcy continued to hit the scoreboard with another five goals , showcasing his immense talent . Subsequent wins again Carey Grammar and Haileybury elevated the team ’ s standing within the competition , as it sat with four wins and no losses .
Captain Hugo Bromell , Henry Brown ( both Year 12 ) and young guns Jagga Smith and Oliver Badr ( both Year 10 ) were key players in these games . Unfortunately , lockdown meant our boys had a seven-week break before the resumption of a season-defining game against Xavier College . With strict restrictions in place , it was a
