CAMP RUMBUG – A VERY POSITIVE AND BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCE
YEAR 5 BOYS GIVE THEIR FEEDBACK ON THE THREE-DAY CAMP
Scotch ’ s Year 5 boys recently attended Camp Rumbug , nestled in the rolling hills of the Wilson ’ s Promontory countryside between Foster and Dollar , about 170km south-east of Melbourne . At the three-day camp the boys developed a number of outdoor education skills , and increased their proficiency and abilities in canoeing , bush hut construction , rafting , low ropes , orienteering and archery .
It was encouraging to see the boys develop their physical skills , although the true value in camping lies with the development of personal skills and traits which , hopefully , can be put to greater use as the boys grow . The camp was a very positive and beneficial experience , at which the boys developed personal skills such as teamwork , decision-making ability , responsibility , empathy , cooperation , resilience , respect and tolerance for individual differences .
Here is some feedback from the boys on their Camp Rumbug experience :

We learnt how to work together , not to blame each other , and that not always the loudest people are the best for a certain job .
