New Products A new wide-format printer with unique heating capabilities A faster, more versatile single-pass slitter / cutter / creaser Graphics One’s Mutoh VJ-628MP 24” printer is a specialized version of the OEM’s VJ-628 that includes advanced hot-air directional heating from above the substrate and platen heating from below. This unique set-up enhances ink adhesion and curing on both coated and uncoated substrates. Performance is also enhanced with the use of MP Resin Wonder Ink that provides compatibility with a wide range of coated and uncoated substrates – which is ideal for wall covering and packaging applications. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to launch the new VJ-628MP into specialty markets,” said Dan Barefoot, VP of Sales and Marketing at Graphics One/Prism Inks. “Our tradition has been to go into new markets with printers and inks which are different from standard large- format applications. We’ve identif ied a number of target markets that will utilize the versatility of the printer and the MP Resin Wonder Ink. We’re excited about this collaboration.” The new printer will also come bundled with a special version of Wasatch SoftRIP (one-year subscription) with s tep - and - repeat c ap ab ili t ies fo r wall Mutoh VJ-628MP coverings. Duplo USA’s DC-618 Slitter/Cutter/Creaser is the newest addition to the OEM’s line of fully automated digital finishers characterized by their precision, reliability and productivity. Offering significant enhancements over its predecessor (the DC-616 Pro), the DC-618 delivers output at faster speeds and on heavier stocks. Duplo also gave the PC controller software and LCD control panel interfaces a “facelift” to make them more intuitive and user-friendly for in-plants and commercial printers looking to automate their short-run finishing. With the ability to perform up to 6 slits, 30 cuts and 20 creases in a single pass, it can produce applications such as business cards, postcards, brochures and book covers with a full-bleed finish. Processing speed has been boosted from 10 to 23 sheets per minute and paperweight sp ecif ic at ions have increased from 350 to 400 gsm. It comes with standard features includ- ing an automatic barcode and registration-mark s c a n n e r, u l t r a s o n i c double-feed detection and long paper tray. Duplo DC-618 Slitter / Cutter / Creaser A fast, more productive dye-sublimation printer Roland DGA’s new VersaExpress RF-640 8-Colour Eco- Solvent Printer is a 64” wide-format inkjet with “the widest colour gamut in its class for outdoor durable graphics,” said the OEM. It features 8-colour inks in CMYK, Light Black, Red, Green and Orange and up to three years of outdoor durability. Up to 99% of Pantone + Solid Coated spot colours are within gamut – making this printer ideal for accurately matching brand colours. The printer also features a gold-plated print head with Roland Intelligent Pass Control that can produce up to 7 different sizes of ink droplets. “Colours like green and orange are notoriously challenging to reproduce precisely,” said Daniel Valade, Roland DGA Product Manager of Digital Print. “By adding these ink colours, as well as red, the RF-640 8C offers significant advantages for those working with major brands. Along with light black, they deliver exceptional skin to nes an d smooth gra- dients for unsurpassed photo repro- duction,” he added. Epson America’s next-generation SureColor F6370 44” dye-sublimation inkjet printer features speeds up to 680 sq. ft./hour and produces high-quality images for promotional products, soft signage, cut-and-sew fabrics and more. Designed for ease-of-use, it comes equipped with new Epson Edge Print workflow software featuring an Adobe PostScript 3 Engine, as well as a built-in cutter for roll-to-sheet printing, plus an optional take-up reel system for unattended printing. The software facilitates job nesting, custom spot colour, project libraries, pattern repeats and the ability to import new media settings – while also providing the option for print shop pro- viders the ability to edit media settings and manage projects remotely. It also comes equipped with Epson Edge dashboard, a remote printing management software featuring an easy- to-use, intuitive interface with detailed views of current activity, ink supply levels, and important warnings or errors. The dash- board can manage the status of up to ten printers. The new printer also supports 2” and 3” roll media cores and media up to 170 mm.
