Five ways Delphax can make your inkjet
business more productive and more profitable
In the ever-changing landscape of commercial printing, many of us have lived through
a number of important and disruptive technological evolutions. Not so long ago, the
migration from offset to digital was all the rage. More recently, everyone is talking about
the migration from toner-based digital to inkjet. Here are a few insights from Delphax
Solutions Inc. to help you get into, or vastly improve, your position the inkjet space.
“the good old days” of offset – yet this is a
true digital press. We’d be happy to discuss
how an Elan HD could fit into your work-
flow and show you how it could provide
you with significant savings.
4. Self-maintenance
The Delphax Elan 500 HD
Inkjet Digital Press
1. Inkjet production efficiency
Delphax is already well known for its Elan
500 HD Inkjet Digital Press. This CMYK
cut sheet production device has proven
itself as a reliable platform at multiple
installations. And, with the upgrade
released in April this year, provided the
inkjet promise of competitive running
costs along with a many-to-one replace-
ment option for toner-based devices with
speeds of 500 letter impressions per
minute. With the recent release of the Elan
HD M at PRINTING United to rave reviews
(available Q1 2020 – orders now being
accepted), there is now a monochrome
device built with the same reliable Memjet
printhead technology as the Elan 500 HD.
This solution is able to provide a cost-
competitive replacement to toner devices,
with speeds of over 400 letter impressions
per minute. Both solutions are high-speed
inkjet, cut sheet, customizable devices.
Having options that allow you to reduce
the installation footprint on the factory
floor (along with the associated labour
costs) while providing opportunities for
growth by removing legacy toner devices,
are key areas in which the inkjet revolution
is finally coming of age.

2. Consistent and repeatable print
quality
One of the key points to consider when
selecting an inkjet technology is how well
print defects (such as missing nozzles) are
handled within a print system – a considera-
tion for any inkjet solution, especially with
single-pass technology. The Elan portfolio
is powered by Memjet Printhead and Versa-
Pass Technology. Plus, the implementation
employed by Delphax not only yields
exceptional colour consistency and true
1600 x 1375 dpi print resolution, but also
delivers excellent print quality thanks to 5
levels of nozzle redundancy which minimizes
the effects of weak or missing nozzles.
3. Substantial cost savings
The Elan family has a very compelling
Total Cost of Ownership story to tell. One
of the great features is that you can
choose to go with an “Out-of-the-Box”
costing model that means NO CLICK
CHARGES. Or, you could opt for a click
charge if you wish. The huge advantage
of the Out-of-the-Box model is that you
only pay for what you use – the vendor is
not leveraging your increased volumes to
line their pockets. This harkens back to
With the reduced complexity of inkjet-
based systems comes another key area
of cost reduction – service. No longer will
users require frequent technician visits
maintaining toner-based devices with the
associated click-based services costs.
The Elan family offers dependable self-
maintenance programs. What makes this
so enticing is that you’re in full control of
your equipment all the time. We offer a
scalable maintenance-training program
to fit your specific needs – even though
our presses in the field currently boast
more that 90% uptime! That’s more time
for you to print.
5. Operator-friendly design
One of Albert Einstein’s famous quotes is:
“The definition of genius is taking the
complex and making it simple.” Delphax
engineers have designed a complex system
that, at first glance, appears to be fairly
simple, especially from an operator’s point
of view. Therein lies the genius of the Elan
system. Our engineering team did all the hard
work so your operators can produce your jobs
in the most simple and efficient way possible.
