Primary Care C VIII- Women Hlth & Pregnancy
3 This course provides students with the theoretical base to assess , diagnose and manage the primary care of women and pregnancy . Course content includes the principles of health promotion , disease prevention , and management of common primary health care problems in the diverse pregnant and female population . Emphasis is placed on the diagnosis and management of acute episodic and chronic conditions of the pregnant and non-pregnant female patient in the context of the primary care setting and community . Evidenced based practice is utilized as the basis for primary care management and decisionmaking including diagnosis , appropriate diagnostic procedures , laboratory tests , and follow up care . Clinical experiences are provided in a variety of primary care settings .

This course is the clinical practice component that provides a transition from didactic and laboratory practice of assessment , diagnosis , differential diagnosis and management to actual pediatric , adolescent , adult , geriatric and pregnant patients to practicum .
