Under preceptor supervision , students utilize the nursing process to promote wellness and reduce the older adult client ' s risk for morbidity and loss of independence . Students apply theoretical models in analyzing individual , familial , cultural , political , and socioeconomic forces that enhance or impede the older adult ' s health and wellness . Opportunities for collaboration with federal , state and local agencies providing services to older adults and their families are provided .

Issues related to financing / reimbursement , staffing , facility accreditation , certification , licensure , and quality improvement strategies are explored .
