Proclaiming Jesus Christ, Making Disciples, Growing Healthy Churches

Introducing Abraham Emmanuel, - continued
prophets who were before
you.”
Pastor Emmanuel is also
experiencing persecution
and harassment on a personal level. As you know
he was unable to find alternative accommodation
when his house lease expired. The landlord renewed, but at a much
higher rental; from
$187.00 per month to
$260.00. Not stopping
there, he brought people
to view the house at 9:30
p.m. without any prior notice. That was March 25th.
In addition, the mother of
the owner of the building
where The Nazarene Mission worships demanded
extra money for the light
bill. Pastor Emmanuel refused to pay this as they
use the electricity very
little. She then gave him 3
months’ notice. So, he
has to find a new worship
space by July 15th.
The Mission has a building lot, and these housing
and worship space difficulties could be solved by
building there. Pastor
Emmanuel plans a duplex, with the church on
the separate upper floor,
and his home below. He
has consulted an Engineer and has cost estimates for constructing
each floor, and writes:
“So he told me that his
company can complete
the house before end of
this year. He has given
the total prices for
Ground floor Rs.
4,732,800/= and the upper floor Rs. 5,176,500/=
($1 CND equal to SL Rs.
120/=)”
That’s $38,000
and $42,000 at
today’s rates.
Pastor Emmanuel is praying earnestly, and asks
us to join him in
this, to be able to construct at least the ground
floor by the end of this
year.
Please seek God’s guidance for your part in this,
and what your congregation could do to help bring
this about. Pray also for all
the work of the Mission,
and for God’s provision of
a place for the Mission to
worship until their building is built.
Pray also for our Brothers
and Sisters in Christ in Sri
Lanka in these times of
persecution.
