However, that following Monday, it started to become more clear that we might have been on a wild goose chase when we were assuming his foot was injured.
When Jaxson got home from school, Carmen saw that he was having a real hard time walking around and the strange red spots were starting to spread.
At that point, Carmen took him to his pediatrician because this situation was getting more and more mysterious, and seemingly worse and worse.
His doctor had some concerns and even brought in the chief doctor to take a look at Jaxson.
They believed that the red spots and pain in his feet were stemming from a condition called Henoch- Schonlein purpura, or HSP.
It is most common in young children, and can lead to rashes, pain in your joints, pain in your abdomen, and can even harm your kidneys. It inflames small blood vessels and is typically triggered by a previous respiratory illness.
They went on to do some blood work on Jaxson and said to bring him back in one week. They also went on to say that if his pain got worse or if we noticed any random bleeding that we should take him to the emergency room.
For the next few days, Jaxson’ s condition seemed to plateau so we didn’ t feel like a trip to the ER was in order just yet. We were going to get through the week and see how everything looked when we visited the doctor again for the follow-up.
It turns out, everything started to look worse on that day of the follow-up.
Jaxson was starting to look
Jaxson was checked into the UK pediatric emergency room for testing before being admitted into the hospital later that night.
