Future proof your club How to build a younger membership A recent review of over 400 member based clubs using MiClub systems showed an overwhelming 91% of all women golf club members are aged 50 and over. 78% of all male golf club members are also over 50. There is a significant drop in the 20-50 year old players as competing demands take precedence, including family and other commitments. These golfers can be termed family golfers. Statistics snapshot  44% increase in men’s golf bookings from 30-39 year olds to 40-49 age bracket.  77% increase in women’s golf bookings between 40-49 year olds to 50-59 year olds. “Family golfers” How to capture the family golfers Lifestyle Membership The statistics present a pressing requirement to attract the family golfer. MiClub’s Lifestyle Membership is a flexible, modern membership model, with points-based membership at different pricing levels and/or different point allocations for peak and off-peak times. This age bracket (30-50 year old male and female golfers) face competing demands on their time and wallet. They need a real value proposition. Efforts must focus on increasing loyalty and providing a sense of value for the younger golfer. Flexible approach needed Traditional golf membership may be viewed as restrictive and cost prohibitive to the family golfer. One possible solution to attract this market segment is to offer more flexibility in terms of cost and amount of golf played. The Lifestyle Membership model is proving very successful as more clubs are adding or replacing membership categories with lifestyle categories. The Vines Country Club recently made a complete shift to Lifestyle Membership and have signed up 171 new (additional) members in the last three months, without any impact on existing membership revenue.
