IN YOUTHFUL BLISS

AND

INNOCENCE

CHILDHOOD

otherwise known as pure bliss

* * *

Here are some snippets of my childhood:

I am Kirsten Sy. I grew up in Manila, in a warm home, both my parents and grandparents taking care of me. You see, they always dreamed of taking care of a baby girl again-- almost all my older cousins are boys. Fortunately, I had them guiding me in every single step I take- both literally and figuratively.

I remember staying up late thinking I was queen of the world, watching High School Musical EVERY SINGLE DAY, fighting with this girl in nursery who always pinched me (she later became my best friend). I also remember the first time I prayed, and the times my ate would promise me candy so I would wake up earlier-- and my first allowance aka. a couple of 25 centavo coins. Truly, my childhood was just sweet and euphoric.

My mom would always tell me stories about my childhood. I assume she secretly wants to take care of me again. Now that I'm older, I don't run to her as often as I did before. She told me I always was a cheerful girl. I would always, always pick up the phone even when it wasn't ringing and blabber senseless words. And when it rang, I would cry if they didn't let me answer it.

She also told me I was always brave, too. Apparently, I jumped in the pool without my /salbabida/ or floaters on because I was over excited. I was even laughing when they pulled me out and I was coughing out water, she said.
